Yes needs to be specific, here is the driver you need to install XP, download the file and use winzip or similar software to extract the contents of the exe file to a folder of choice, after extraction, these are the files needed to install XP using the F6 method, or slipstream the extracted drivers into the CD using nlite.
Sata Driver. Start over with nlite, copy the files off of the original XP cd again, this time slipstream SP3 and drivers. Unfortunately, with my Internet connection that will never happen.
I only have Sprint Mobile Broadband which is an absolute joke where I live, despite what their coverage maps show. I can't keep a connection anywhere near long enough to download that. I'll try to have my son burn and mail me a copy, which is how I got SP2. When I did this before with nLite, I had copied the SP2 exe to my hard drive and was slipstreaming from it, or so I thought.
It turns out that the file was never merged. I was able to burn a bootable disk and install XP to my second hard drive just dandy. I need XP to run one legacy antenna analysis program and Autocad Lite. Otherwise, I'm not about to reinstall all of the stuff I have running under Vista at the moment, so I simply wanted to have a dual-boot option.
Now I've discovered that XP will wipe out all of my Vista restore points, so I need to think about this some more. Browse Community. Turn on suggestions. Packs are always well seeded and should download quickly. If you want to reduce space and only include one set of drivers for your own PC for instance, download the Graphics pack which contains the required drivers.
A similar thing applies to Sound packs. Do not unpack them as they are 7z archives. It will then identify the operating system inside the folder. Click Overview to review your settings or simply click the Slipstream! Run the executable inside the archive and go to the Make ISO tab, click the button to browse to the location which holds the XP folder from step 1, then click the button to give a filename and folder for the new ISO file.
